WHAT WE DO
Treehouse Music StuDioS fosters a creative and collaborative community for music enthusiasts of all levels.
At the treehouse, we create opportunities to work with other musicians, start a band, write a song, record an ep, play your first show, and publish/promote your music.
Our studio offers both individual and group music lessons.
WHAT WE TEACH
GUITAR, BASS, UKE
-
These powerful and portable instruments are the key to the last seventy years of popular music. Fretted string instruments are fun and expressive, whether you’re playing on a big stage or around a campfire.
-
These instruments are also our home turf. Our most proficient genres include folk, rock, pop, R&B, psychedelia, experimental music, country, and funk. Additionally, we have a deep love of Middle Eastern and Jewish music, and an ever-growing interest in jazz and classical guitar.
SONGWRITING
-
Students of a creative bent often have an interest in writing their own songs. We get it, because we've always been the same way. Regardless of age and experience, we work with students to find their creative voice.
-
For a young student, that might fostering an environment of playful silliness, resulting in a song like, “Stubbed The Toe.”
For a rapper interested in writing compelling hooks, it might mean an exploration of songwriting structure, with plenty of examples of artful bridges and choruses.
Finally, for an older student interested in telling his life story, exercises might lean lyrical, with a focus on rhyme schemes, free associations, and how to say the most meaningful thing in the fewest possible words.
In all cases, we strive to offer inspiration and support. Every creative voice is valuable, no matter how new or old.
PIANO, SYNTH, KEYS
-
The keys are the foundation of western music education. Our Piano and synthesizer lessons offer fertile ground for students to fall in love with music education, while catering to students of all ages and skill levels.
-
Our piano instruction focuses on developing strong technical skills, understanding music theory, and fostering expressive playing. From classical pieces to contemporary songs, we tailor lessons to each student's interests and goals. Beginners learn the basics of note reading, rhythm, and hand coordination, while more advanced students explore complex compositions, improvisation, and advanced techniques.
For those interested in the modern soundscape, our synthesizer lessons open up a world of possibilities. Students learn to navigate various types of synthesizers, from analog to digital, and explore sound design, sequencing, and electronic music production. Lessons include creating unique sounds, programming patches, and using synthesizers in both solo and ensemble settings.
MUSIC PRODUCTION
-
Some people think Music Production is the future. Others say Music Theory is the past. We think, “what’s the difference?” One of the best ways to learn music theory is by arranging a song on production software.
-
Following this combinatorial approach, a student will learn all about keys, time signatures, chord progressions, and timbre while traipsing across the sonic playground of Digital Audio Workspaces like Soundtrap, GarageBand, and Logic.
VOICE
-
The voice is the most personal instrument of all, one that requires a supportive, nurturing environment to truly thrive. We work with each student to find, train, and celebrate their unique voice.
-
When working with a rapper, we focused on “characterization” — adopting personas to discover new places in the voice for skits and hooks with character.
When a singer needed technical knowledge of their vocal range, we worked with them to identify the easiest and most expressive key for a cover.
When a young student needed to build awareness of pitch, we brought in meditative drone singing—building harmonic awareness by experiencing sung chord tones over a drone.
Whatever your vocal challenge, we’re here for you.
EARLY CHILDHOOD
-
Early childhood music education is all about fostering a love for music in the youngest learners. We believe that music should be a joyful and integral part of a child's life from the very beginning.
-
In our early childhood music classes, we focus on playful and engaging activities that introduce the basic elements of music. Singing, dancing, and playing simple instruments are at the heart of our lessons. These activities not only teach rhythm, melody, and harmony but also help develop fine motor skills, coordination, and social interaction.
We create a nurturing environment where children feel free to explore and express themselves musically. Whether it's a lively sing-along, a fun movement game, or an interactive story set to music, our goal is to make every class a delightful and educational experience.
